Thrifty Thursday

I haven't posted many of my thrifty finds lately! It's been a busy summer! Here are a few of my faves.

Footstool before

After! I kind of love this pattern and the color!

This was my great grandparents and I've been wanting to paint it. This is the after and I love how it turned out. I figured if I hate it I can always paint over it. That's the beauty of paint. Cheap and easy to change. I think it makes the entry so much brighter. 

Table before. I had to buy this! I LOVED the glass space on top and the cutouts in the drawers. 

After. Now I have to move my dads workout bench from our extra bedroom. All this furniture with nowhere to go. Sad!

Thrifty Thursday

So I bought a few AWESOME finds at the DI. I love them so much! I am in the process of completing one project and can't wait to start on the other! I think I'll wait to show those 2 until they are done. However, I did find this great mirror. It will probably be painted as soon as I figure out where to put it exactly.

I found this sweet headboard for Stella's room for $5 at the D.I.! I spray painted it black and it looks awesome in her room!

I found this mirror at Goodwill for only 4 bucks! In good condition too. I love mirrors! (Not because I'm vain either) I just do. I really liked the shape of this one.

I found an awesome headboard that I wanted for Stella's room this week, but when I went back to pick it up it was 3 inches too big. LAME. However, on my way out I found these beauties!

A quick spritz of spray paint and I love how it looks on my fireless fireplace!

Thrifty Thursday

I have been to several different thrift stores this week and haven't found many things that I love and was willing to pay the price for. Thrift stores can be funny because it's stuff other people don't want, but somehow the stores think people are willing to pay pretty much full price for. Well, not this girl! (I'm pointing at myself right now) If it's not a killer deal I won't pay for it. So here are my 2 bargains for this week!

#1 This cool brown and ivory vase. I love it! It will go in half the rooms in my house too. $5

#2 One of my favorite decorating books I've actually checked out from the library before. Originally $24.95 but I got it for $3 at Savers. Nice! Thrift stores are amazing for finding books for way cheap! Even if you're just looking for cool books that have a nice hardback cover for decorating. 

NON-Thrifty Thursday

Holy Moly. Talk about non-thrifty Thursday! This week (and last) has been filled with getting ready for our one week trip to Disneyland/San Diego. Who knew it would be SO expensive and time consuming to leave your house for one week? I know this will probably be the last time we go for a while and I want it to be really memorable, fun, relaxing and with little surprises. Little things like new superhero pj's, new movies, journals for each day, and fun car games. With all the time, thought and money that is going into this trip I hope it doesn't go too fast and we can truly enjoy our much needed family time!

My thrifty purchase for the week: A new camera & double DVD players. 

Can I tell you how ecstatic I am about my purchases though?! Especially my camera! Look how cute Duke looks. He's a hard one to photograph. And I know my kids will thoroughly enjoy their new DVD players. They even play 2 different movies at the same time! I think we are just about set!

Thrifty Thursday

All right my 3 friends who follow my blog. When I get a new camera I am going to copy Melissa and start doing Photo Friday and try to find my inner photographer again. In addition to Photo Friday I have also been thinking for a while to start doing Thrifty Thursday! I have a slight obsession with thrift stores and redoing the awesome things I find! I love thrift stores because you can find really cool old stuff that no one else has. I think it brings a lot of character. So I will post the things I find during the week on Thursday. Prepare to be amazed! Or totally grossed out if you're not into random peoples junk! (Which was the case for me up until a year ago!)

This week:

I loved this shiny, colorful lamp! The colors will be awesome for my kids family room. 

Plus it comes complete with the nasty lampshade. Will replace ASAP.

I bought this shelf to go outside to put plants and flowers on it. 

My mom thinks I should keep it in my living room

 and put books and plants on it. What do you think?

This fab table I didn't buy. I inherited it from my Grandma. It was actually her old sewing machine. I decided to remove the sewing machine (which is displayed in our office) and will turn it into a little side/dining table for the kids room downstairs. It was dark dark brown so I painted it gray and teal. I need to replace the handle still but I love how it has turned out. Plus I hate to get rid of anything given to me from my grandparents!

This I bought today to put in the kids play room downstairs. In the past I would have never bought something like this, but I find my taste is more eclectic than traditional/country these days. There were too many things that I loved about this! The scale is amazing! It's really pretty big! I love the mother and child. I think it's beautiful. Made me think of how much I love and miss holding my babies when they were that little. The flowers made me think of Stella because I always say she could be a hippie since she's so chill. The colors are bright and fun. I had to have it! And who can beat $5.oo Seriously.
